Why Ask Why? Proven, practical ways to facilitate meaningful conversations

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

In this session, we will explore the super power of every 5-year-old, how to ask “why?” We will discuss the benefits of asking “why?”, the psychology of asking “why?”, and some practical and productive ways to ask “why?” As a bonus, we will have some hands-on experience with asking “why?" in a way that allows you to have an intelligent conversation with anyone!

What:
What 3 things might your participants learn or experience as a result of your workshop?
  • How to cultivate a more meaningful connection with the people you interact with every day.
  • How to have a respectful conversation with difficult people or those whose values differ from your own.
  • How to facilitate more effective problem definition in one-on-one or small groups.

So What:
What might be 3 ways that the content of your workshop changes your attendees' perceptions, habits, ways of working, or view of the world?
  • Truly understand another's world view (rather than argue against it).
  • Engender mutual respect among diverse members of a group.
  • Facilitate more productive (informal) problems solving.

Now What:
What are 3 ways your attendees might apply what they learn in your workshop?
  • More effective one-one-one conversations with direct reports, managers, and co-workers.
  • More effective informal problem solving sessions with teams.
  • More respectful conversations with others who disagree with your world view.
